Subject: Message from the president regarding Board of Directors vacancies
Greetings ResNet Members,
As you may be aware, nominations for three open board member positions were=
supposed to close on Friday, February 25th. Because we believe that our =
membership would benefit from more nominees on the ballot, the deadline for=
nominations has been extended until close of business on Friday, March 11t=
h. Please self-nominate and/or reach out to other members that you know wo=
uld be a good choice for the positions. Help us continue the good work of =
ResNet.
Here's an outline of the obligations of a Board Member:
1. Be a member in good standing: currently, that means that you are s=
ubscribed to the listserve and you work in the IT field in Higher Education=
.
2. Virtually attend monthly Board of Directors meetings; currently we=
are using Adobe Connect and in the past a conference phone number. These =
meetings have a set agenda and typically last 1.5 hours and occur twice a m=
onth.
3. Attend the annual conference at the expense of your institution.
4. Attend one face-to-face Board of Directors meeting in the fall, ge=
nerally lasting 3-5 days. The full cost of travel and accommodations are p=
aid for by the ResNet organization.
5. Other time commitments for matters of the organization: planning,=
writing policy and procedure, strategic planning, and assisting subcommit=
tees.
ResNet needs new people to step up and lead continuing efforts to make ResN=
et more robust, more professional, with expanded services to our members. =
We have come a long way; but we still have a ways to go in order to do all =
of those things.
