Duties: The IT Project Leader is responsible for overall coordination and e=
xecution of projects for the Public Computing Group in Wharton Computing. T=
his position will have direct responsibility for managing 500 client comput=
ers and related technologies including specifying, purchasing, securing, an=
d updating computers in highly visible areas such as classrooms, computer l=
abs, and group study rooms. She/He will be required to plan a yearly hardwa=
re and software refresh for all computers within Public Technology. Direct =
a staff of two full time technicians in addition to temporary staff and stu=
dent workers. Assume responsibility for the group providing professional cu=
stomer service, expert technical support, training, staff development, and =
performance metrics. Manage a mission critical enterprise infrastructure wi=
th over 30 virtualized servers including responsibility for ensuring the co=
mpletion of daily operations, security, backups, and disaster recovery. Man=
age the highly visible digital signage system in Huntsman Hall including wo=
rking with content designers in various Wharton departments, dealing direct=
ly with hardware and software vendors, and ensuring a very high level of av=
ailability. Act as a point person working with an intra-university group lo=
oking to link distributed digital signage systems for emergency use. Manage=
 several large enterprise projects including a complex printing environment=
, application deployment via Citrix for academic software, and creating a u=
biquitous computing environment for our highly mobile students. Act as a re=
presentative of Wharton Computing for the University of Pennsylvania PennPr=
int initiative to join disparate print systems for all university undergrad=
uates. Develop new uses for software and OS virtualization to create new wa=
ys for faculty and students to access technology. Work with vendors and bot=
h internal and external contacts to innovate, evaluate, and recommend new t=
echnologies and services that positively impact the academic experience of =
our students. Effectively manage the Public Computing budget to ensure both=
 daily operations and new projects make the best use of available resources=
. Act in a lead project manager capacity for numerous independent projects =
that have significant impact on Students, Faculty, and Staff. Perform other=
 duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent training; 3 years of experi=
ence supporting technology; experience administering Windows Vista in an en=
terprise environment; proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing hardware=
 & software issues required. Experience with enterprise disk imaging and so=
ftware package deployment; printing services and management; Microsoft Acti=
ve Directory, Group Policy, and Windows Server products; supporting computi=
ng in a higher-education environment strongly preferred. Experience with wi=
ndows security policies, procedures, and best practices; experience managin=
g physical and virtualized servers using VMWare ESX, experience with multim=
edia devices and software, experience with web design; experience with SQL,=
 Cold Fusion, XML, VB, Javascript, or other programming/development languag=
es desired. Demonstrated skills in computer troubleshooting, excellent cust=
omer service skills, strong organization and communications skills required=
. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team; ability to work =
well under conditions of stress and rapid change; ability to work extended =
hours including occasional nights and weekends; physically able to life and=
 carry 50 lbs required. Prior supervisory experience preferred.
