Also not free but we use Orion products with great results and I think the cost is reasonable given the functionality and relative ease of deployment, updates and maintenance.

We're getting reports of some seemingly random network slowdown by our student body. It is proving difficult to track down and we've been looking for some network traffic testing software to help out. Do you know of any good tools that can write pings to a graph, record latency, or anything that could help track down bottlenecks and dropped packets?
