Please just answer YES or NO to the following questions. If you would like
to expound on this matter, please feel free to do so....
* Does your network admin group block FTP clients that do not comply
with the FTP protocol standards? (Specifically any clients that use random
ports, such as QVT FTP)
[ssmith] No, not that I'm aware of. Our firewall requires passive transfer
mode.
* Does your network admin group give you advanced notice of such
changes about to take effect?
[ssmith] Absolutely. And not only that, but they consult with me before
making changes. After all, we pay them to monitor and maintain the network
* Is ResNet at your institution part of the Telecommunication /
Network Admin group?
[ssmith] Nope. We are part of Auxiliary Services; e.g. housing, sports
facilities, conference services, food service, etc.
That's it....
Thank you for your time,
-mike
