What's the scoop on ResNet '94?

Well, ResNet '94 is a suggested name for this event. If anyone can
think of a better one please post. Of course "94" presumes there
might be future events. Who wants to host ResNet '95? :)

I have met with Sandy Senti and others here at Stanford and spoken with
some of you. Sandy and I are trying to put together an event that
will be productive and inexpensive. A no-frills symposium. Within a
few days we will post a suggested outline. For now we have a question of
timing.

In early mail we recieved on the topic, folks seemed interested in
having this happen earlier than summer. More recently I have
received queries from people who like the summer idea. Could we
get a little more feedback on this?

For an earlier date, we were thinking of either Tursday and Friday,
March 24th and 25th, or March 31st and April 1st. Either way we
might extend into Saturday. The latter dates are not terribly
good because they bump into Easter.

We haven't looked at possible summer dates yet, but I believe we would
try to do it in late June or VERY early July. This would be after
spring quarter ends (around June 16th) and before the summer crunch
hits us as we get ready for fall.

We would prefer to host this event in summer and not March because,
even with a no-frills conference, there is plenty to do, and three
months is not much time. I think we could do a much better job
if we waited.

With that said, I await feedback. Either way we hope to keep the reg
fee at around $150 to $200. If conferees were housed on-campus, money
could be saved on housing and transportation to and from campus.
