Stanford University Residential Computing is pleased to announce
the completion of our WWW server! The purpose of this server is to provide
a repository of information, files, and documents that are relevant to
Residential Computing and Networking projects here at Stanford and at
other academic institutions.

The mission of the Residential Computing program is to enable students
to make effective and efficient use of information technologies in
education. Central to the program is the belief that such technologies
are best provided in the residence halls that serve as students' homes
and are most effectively supported by student staff who live in these
residences. Input from students and faculty as well as constant
evaluation of high tech industry are the driving forces of future planning.

At present, our server contains information on

   * Creation and History of Residential Computing at Stanford
   * 1993-94 Budget and Configuration
   * Information on installation and maintenance of in-room dormatory
     network connections
   * Resident Computer Coordinator (RCC) Job Description and Directory

Plus links to similar projects elsewhere.

If you have a similar program at your institution (ie - one that provides
computer clusters in student residences, and/or dormatory in-room network
connections), we'd like to hear about it!

Suggestions for further information or links you might find useful
are welcome and requested.

Check it out at: http://rescomp.stanford.edu

NOTE that the address for our server has changed since our previous
posting.
