I can readily envision students coming to RCCs at any hour of the day
or night during the last few weeks of a semester if their pulling coursework
or applications down from the network. Also, if printers are in the dorms
and they go down the night before someone's paper is due, regardless
of whether it's finals week or not, there are many students who would have
not qualms about waking an RCC up just to load paper or change the toner.
Our concept of mission-critical is probably very different from a student's
perspective. And it probably doesn't matter if the "emergency" is a result
of the individual student's lack of planning or ignorance of network
operations.
In eithe case, they will come to the RCC, or anyone else they can collar.
