Resnet-Forum-Folk,

I think someone asked this recently, but I didn't see any responses. Are any
of you currently charging for service in any way, or considering it? One-time
or monthly?

At Stanford we have a $10 hook-up fee for ethernet. I'm looking into
increasing that to $20 or $30 to help fund the increased levels of student RCCs
that we need to support our growing demands. By the way, 1 RCC per 100 - 150
residents seems to be our ideal staffing level right now in houses with in-room
connections. It should be noted, though, that at Stanford the RCCs are the
primary consulting resource for students, your staffing requirements might be
lower if you provide other consulting resources on campus for your students.
Currently there are still some RCCs here that support houses of 200 to 250, so
I want to increase to 2 RCCs in those houses. If I can find the funding for
this, we would have a whopping 56 RCCs by the fall of 1997.

Jeff
