We did a project to upgrade the wire in four large-ish buildings that were
bid in 2014. The total area of the structures is 410,000 gross SF. Not
every building got all new wire, depending on its age. The oldest building
(1966) got all new wire and pathways. The newest (2006) got wire
augmentation for WiFi only.

The number of new cables installed was 3875. The low bid cost for wiring
was $1.7M. So the cost "per jack" is $438. This was Cat 6 wire, not 6A. The
reason we have not embraced the 6A koolaide is that it doubles the size and
weight of the cable bundles and forces expensive changes to the cable tray
and conduit infrastructure. All of this was work in occupied space. In new
construction, not having users under foot can yield a substantial savings.

The project required building four new cable closets, carved out from space
in the buildings. We do closet construction in a separate bid package from
wiring, so those costs are not included.
