There are quite a few reasons why this wouldn't be working. I've worked wit=
h these setups for over 5 years now - happy to lend a hand offline :). Feel=

Server/Client OS

Deployment type (NetBoot, NetInstall, 3rd party tool or utility)

Any relevant portions of the logs you are seeing

Hi all,

Apologies if you receive this multiple times, since I'm cross-posting to a =
few lists.

I'm wondering whether anyone has seen (and resolved) a similar issue netboo=
ting Macs at their institution.

We are seeing instances where computers will intermittently fail while tryi=
ng to netboot, but will work on subsequent attempts. This might happen for =
10 of 20 computers in a lab, or it might happen for one individual computer=
; the number of machines being connecting doesn't appear to affect the like=
lihood of failure. According to our network staff, all of the appropriate p=
orts are enabled for NetBoot: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203437. We =
aren't seeing anything that gives us any help narrowing down the source of =
the problem. The only hint is that the Netinstall log shows fewer packets f=
rom unsuccessful connections than from successful ones.
