ResNetters,
I am responsible for nearly 100 podiums in our College and many of them
currently only accept VGA-in and stereo-in for notebook computers. We have
been slowly upgrading podiums to accept HDMI-in but there are three key
problems:
1. We have to upgrade the guts of the podium and the input plate and it
is cost-prohibitive
2. Many devices have only miniDisplayPort-out (e.g. Mac Books), not
HDMI-out and so still require an adapter or dongle
3. The devices that do HDMI-out still require an HDMI cable (which we do
not currently provide)
We have been toying around with the idea of providing a big bundle of
cables to the podiums. The bundles would consists of a VGA-to-HDMI cable,
VGA-to-MiniDisplayPort cable, VGA-to-DisplayPort cable, and a VGA-to-VGA
cable but that is kind of clunky.
Has anyone out there found a single adapter or converter box that will take
multiple inputs (e.g. miniDisplayPort, HDMI) and output to a VGA cable that
can be connected to a VGA-in connector on a podium or projector? Something
like the following but with multiple inputs:
- StarTech.com Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter Cable with Audio, Black,
2m
<http://www.govconnection.com/shop/startech.com-mini-displayport-to-vga-adapter-cable-with-audio-black-2m/23622697?cac=Result>
I have been looking around on various sites and using Google but the search
terms are so generic that I am getting a lot of useless results.
Thank you!
