We image new computers with Windows Deployment Services. The pros are that
everything was already included with our Microsoft campus agreement so
there were no additional costs to implement it. It took some time to get
everything setup just the way we wanted it and learning the ins and outs of
sysprep but once everything was worked out things went very smoothly. I was
even able to create a basic Windows 8 image and include it on our WDS
server in under two hours.
I know that others on the list use WDS and there have been presentations at
past ResNet symposiums on the technology so there are a lot of resources
here.
