We've discussing that a lot lately too. There seems to be a little more demand than we realized, but it is definitely waning. Although there is a lot available online through many sources, real-time content like sports does not work unless you watch it live. It also looks a heck of a lot better on a real TV than a mobile or even laptop device. Our provider, Time Warner, does not provide a way for students to stream on their devices even though they pay for a subscription. This service is provided by TW for non-student residents in the area.
You may want to check out Tivli (http://tivli.com). They have a very creative solution to this whole problem.

Duke got rid of cable in the rooms a few years back. There's big screen
Tvs with cable in the common rooms. There was lots of grumbling the first
semester but it faded.
Best,
Erin
