Colleagues,
Here at the University of Connecticut a lot of changes are happening. Mainl=
y, many of our separate IT units are being consolidated into the main IT g=
roup. As this is happening a proposal for this new group to start doing Har=
dware repair has come forth. Previously we relied on our campus bookstore t=
echnology department to do the hardware repairs, however that model may be =
changing. I was wondering what type of workflow, procedures, and setups oth=
ers have with a similar environment. We are a public university that serves=
about 30,000 students, multiples branch campuses, and about 8,000 faculty/=
staff. The proposal would be to try and do hardware support for both staff =
and student groups and integrate this with the (current) separate groups th=
at support their software respectively. Please let me know your thoughts. A=
ny input would be helpful as we move forward in this project proposal.
