I live in a remote area and have NO cell signal but I have internet, so I g=
ot an AT&T microcell. You can register 10 phone numbers on the microcell (=
they all have to be AT&T) but it is not "open" for any phone to use - by de=
sign since it uses your internet to get the phone call out. It does not ea=
sily transfer an active phone call from the microcell to the general cell s=
ystem either. You have to call back after the call drops as you leave the =
microcell range.
Thanks!

Subject: Small Scale Distributed Antenna Systems or Microcell
I'm beginning a little research on DAS and microcell systems. We would lik=
e to get cell signal down to our main technology center in the basement of =
the library (the Technology Commons houses a big computer lab, helpdesk, me=
eting rooms, classroom, equipment checkout, repair center, and more). We a=
re talking about a fairly open space with low ceilings the size of a basket=
ball court. The main problem is that in the basement it is very difficult =
to get a GPS lock unless you either 1. Have really good equipment or 2. Run=
cables for an antenna outside. I'm interested in people's experiences wit=
h the equipment, vendors, and contractors for installation. Again, this is=
pretty small scale so if we can do this ourselves, all the better.
Thanks,
