ResNet Folks,

A task force at Stanford University is working on a policy designating
electronic communication as a *primary* means of official distribution of
University information. We would include in that category items such as the
drug and alcohol policy, asbestos and lead statements, uniform crime reporting,
etc.

At this stage in its work, the task force is seeking information on policies
that other institutions may have. For example, do folks have experience using
electronic mail as a primary means of distributing University information to
students? To staff and/or faculty? If so, what kinds of information are
distributed this way? For what are campus-wide information systems (Gopher,
WWW) used instead of e-mail? Has anyone received legal advice about whether
such systems satisfy federal requirements for distributing information to all
students?

Thanks for any info,

Jeff
