At Wellesley College we are making decisions about job descriptions and the
salary calculations for the students who will serve as computer consultants
in our residential areas for the next academic year. I have a few
questions:
1. What is the mission as you see it for these consultants....are they
devoted to making sure students are connected or do you also see them as a
part of the initiative for educating and tutoring students in computer
applications, etc.?
2. How do you calculate compensation? Is it a fixed amount per week or do
you have them log the time in any way based on their actual time spent?
3. How much training do you provide for these consultants at the beginning
of the year? How does their training differ from consultants in the public
clusters?
Any information on the above questions would be very helpful in preparing
for the fall.
Thanks,
Pattie Orr
