We have a slip server available for our campus. It is a Cisco 500 type
terminal server. We run TACACS authentication and anyone having a standard
computer center Unix account automatically has a slip account. We make
almost everyone use a default IP number from the terminal server, which
can be obtained using bootp or by parsing a string on entry into slip mode.
At one time, we were handing out IP addresses and maintaining entries
in the nameserver, but that got to be overwhelming!
