In any event, all mail directed at a mailing list should conform to the guidelines for the list. It's the responsibility of those who mail to a list to know what those guidelines are (if any), and to adhere to them. Absent any quidelines, I do not think junk such as this is a priori unacceptable. If the list feels it to be, one alternative would be to set up a closed list. I think a closed list is more analogous to a booth at a pub. This case is more like a salesman showing up at a pub's widely advertised "Geek Night" and trying to find customers. :^) My sincerest apologies if this message itself is considered off topic! Chris
