My sense has been that Wave was a bit too complex for a standalone
mass-adoption product at this time, but I assumed that API-based
elements would lead the way to various interesting apps -- so I'm not
surprised by Google's noting that the underlying technology will find
its way into other Google products.
Coincidentally, a must-read Slate article appeared today, including an
interview with Google Research director Peter Norvig "On Being Wrong,"
which notes that failure is a natural part of innovation:
