The author draws distinctions between Bing's handling of Chinese search results vs. Google's policies in this arena. One aspect of this that Kirstof did not mention is that -- to my knowledge -- google.cn specifically notes in search results when otherwise relevant entries have been omitted due to Chinese government policies. My impression (though I'm not qualified to try this with Chinese input so I can't easily test) is that Bing simply omits "offensive" material without noting that censorship has occurred. Of course, as noted in Kristof's op-ed, Microsoft apparently takes issue with the accusation that Chinese-related censorship is occuring on Bing at all. But if it looks like a duck ...
