Giant cable companies in U.S. want to get even bigger

Time Warner Cable Has Reached Out to Comcast to Discuss Deal

http://j.mp/1bcnMAD (WSJ) [..."MAD" - I like that one. How appropiate!]

A combination of Comcast and Time Warner Cable would likely undergo
intense regulatory scrutiny, as Comcast is the No. 1 cable operator,
serving nearly 22 million television subscribers while Time Warner
Cable is the second biggest, serving more than 11 million. Cable
operators don't directly compete with each other, however, and the
Federal Communications Commission doesn't have a limit on how big
cable operators can be. There likely would be antitrust obstacles,
however, particularly given the leverage a Comcast-Time Warner Cable
would have over content providers and in the market for broadband.
News of Comcast's possible role in the battle for Time Warner Cable,
which was first reported on Friday by CNBC, comes on the heels of a
Wall Street Journal report that Charter is close to an agreement with
banks about arranging debt financing for a Time Warner Cable bid.

Oh yeah, bigger giant cable companies who want to utterly control the
Internet. That's going to be a real boon to subscribers. Watch our
pitiful standing in world broadband/pricing plummet even farther. And
remember, they claim the right to control what information we see or
send: - One Cable Company! One Unified Service! One Bandwidth Cap for
All! One Point of View! You Buy From Us! You Agree with Us! Or We'll
Cut You Off Like the Pitiful Worms You Are!
