Report: Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's repeated requests for a lawyer were ignored

http://j.mp/Zw2aZ2 (Guardian)

"But that controversy was merely about whether he would be advised of
his Miranda rights. Now, the Los Angeles Times, almost in passing,
reports something which, if true, would be a much more serious
violation of core rights than delaying Miranda warnings - namely, that
prior to the magistrate's visit to his hospital room, Tsarnaev had
repeatedly asked for a lawyer, but the FBI simply ignored those
requests, instead allowing the interagency High Value Detainee
Interrogation Group to continue to interrogate him alone."

If this is true, it's a gigantic problem. Not so much regarding
Tsarnaev, against whom enough evidence presumably already exists, but
for all the rest of us. It's one thing to temporary delay notifying
someone of their right to an attorney before questioning -- though
this itself is problematic. It is utterly different to continue
questioning and refuse to provide a lawyer when someone repeatedly
asks for one. If they can do it in this case at their sole
discretion, they could do it to anyone, including you or me. Waiting
to hear the administration's side of this.
