TSA wavers on knives policy changes, buckling to political pressure

"TSA chief John Pistole had made the policy change March 5, saying that
airport security screeners needed to concentrate on greater risks to
air travel. He also said the change would better match international
policy and that other potential weapons, such as scissors and knitting
needles, have been allowed on planes since 2005."

Shameful that the TSA is backing off from a sensible plan -- that
would bring us in line with virtually every other airline system in
the world -- based on complaints that are shrill emotionalism and
political pressure. Just when TSA finally looks like it might do one
thing really right, they buckle. We should have known.
