Pentagon plays Congress for suckers with nearly $5B demand for cyberwar

"DOD requests $4.7 billion to help fund offensive cyber teams"

http://j.mp/16WXLOs (Foreign Policy)

Despite a climate of what defense officials love to describe as
"fiscal uncertainty," the Pentagon's 2014 budget request includes $4.7
billion for increased "cyberspace operations," including dozens of
cyber attack teams, the Defense Department announced today. (Last
year's budget provided $3.9 billion for cyber according to DOD
Comptroller Robert Hale.) This money will be used to "increase
defensive capabilities and develop the cyber Joint Force," according
     to the budget proposal.

"Golly, if we make up enough scary cyber stories for the politicians
who don't know the difference between an A.C. plug and a USB plug, we
can get as much money as we want! Man, the 'cyberscare-industrial
complex' jobs we'll get after we leave the service will set up our
families for generations. Gawd, have to love those suckers in
Congress!"
