TSA pulling x-ray backscatter scanners from airports -- for now
http://j.mp/Wf8rnw (CNN)
"By June 2013 travelers will only see machines which have ATR that
allow for faster throughput. This means faster lanes for the traveler
and enhanced security," the TSA said in a statement. The TSA could
allow backscatter machines in the future if the company develops the
required software, the TSA said.

Read this carefully despite all the news hype on this today. TSA
isn't pulling the x-ray backscatter machines due to the many health
concerns, but because of slow software delivery. They have explicitly
said they could come back when the software works, and in fact may
also introduce x-ray backscatter machines from another manufacturer as
well. In the meantime, millimeter wave scanners will take their place,
which are generally viewed as a significantly lower health risk.
