L.A. county passes wacko condom requirement law
(Porn industry trade group vows to fight condom requirement)
http://j.mp/RFPY3S (L.A. Times)
The day after voters approved a measure requiring porn performers to
wear condoms while filming in Los Angeles County, opponents vowed to
fight the initiative in court and explore ways to move the industry
out of L.A. "as quickly as possible." ... "In the upcoming weeks and
months, we will provide a roadmap for adult production to move its
over a billion-dollar industry and its accompanying 10,000 jobs to
these welcoming communities," Duke wrote.

I live in the West San Fernando Valley part of L.A. City, literally in
the heart of the porn production nexus (Canoga Park, et al.) The
industry's production operations are discreet and almost entirely
invisible. It provides a legal product with vast consumer demand, and
on the relative public health scale (including HIV), doesn't even make
the needle quiver. This is one of the most stupid measures ever
proposed or passed in California. And given the history of lunatic
measures and initiatives in this state, that's saying a lot. It's not
a real health care measure, it's a Mommy State (and "not very well
hidden agenda" censorship measure) of the first order. Here's hoping
the Free Speech Coalition prevails in court.
