[New URL] - Politicians vs. Hidden Cameras -- and the Risks of Explanations

[ I've been receiving reports that *some* persons could not
successfully play the video referenced below. Others are playing it
fine. The underlying cause is unclear but I've reloaded to a new
URL (I took the opportunity to bump up the video quality at the same
time) that seems to work for everyone who has contacted me about
this. All associated URL references are updated. Sorry for any
inconvenience. New URL is: http://j.mp/UJilMo [YouTube] // Gosh Mr.
Wizard, this Internet stuff is fun! ] - Have a great weekend!

== [Original message below, URL updated] ==

We continue to see the fallout of politicians not understanding the
new reality of ubiquitous small video recording devices (aka
smartphones) and the Internet as a distribution medium. Traditional
political "privacy" -- the freedom to say different things to
different groups without them easily knowing of the variances, no
longer exists.

As we can see from this comparison tape, such events put politicos in
the uncomfortable position -- after their remarks are exposed -- of
needing to provide an initial explanation quickly (usually the
accurate one since there's not enough time for much "creativity"), and
then later "pivoting" -- in this case 180 degrees -- for damage control
once the full political ramifications are understood.

The cameras are everywhere! Politicians beware!
