More on NIST.GOV off the Net
It appears the NIST.GOV DNS servers are indeed down. There is
speculation that this is related to weather/power conditions.
Perhaps. But at the very least, these are the sorts of situations one
is supposed to plan for, especially distributing your DNS servers so
that a failure in one region doesn't cut off connectivity to all of
your facilities, everywhere. Perhaps there is some other explanation
for the NIST DNS problems today. But in any case, the DNS has become
a vulnerability in so many ways -- technically, politically,
censorship, and more. It needs to be replaced -- yesterday.
