Google's privacy dashboard and ads preferences manager

In various recent essays, I've noted the presence of Google's
comprehensive user controls related to both privacy and ad
preferences.
A number of readers have asked me where these can be accessed.
The privacy dashboard (which is organized per Google Account)
is at:
https://www.google.com/dashboard
The ad preferences manager (for control over ad personalization
including disabling personalization completely), is reached via:
http://www.google.com/ads/preferences
It's a shame that most firms (including on the Web and of the brick
and mortar variety) don't offer anything approaching this level of
user information and control over your data.
