[Terrible idea] More on Signal requiring a payment to Google to sign
up without a phone number
At this stage of the game, it seems incredibly stupid for Signal to
require people to set up a payment method with Google to permit
people to sign up for Signal without using a phone number. Better not
to even offer that option than to force that behavior given that
Google has gone full MAGA and really can't be trusted anymore. -L
