About that PBS station trying to access to their online archives.
Several people have said they should have had local backups. Well, in
theory yeah, but I don't think most people know how much of broadcast
ops have moved to the cloud over recent years. These operations are
promoted as reliable and backed up better than your average TV station
could do locally, even if they had the facilities and procedures to do
so on a reliable basis. It has been reaching the point where it's as
impractical for them to do local backups as it is for most ordinary
users to keep all their Gmail and Drive files and such backed up. Just
not something most people can do reliably if at all. -L
