"The Community Meeting"
The large tavern was packed with the unruly crowd, angry shouts were
everywhere. In a corner stood stacks of pitchforks and unlit torches.
The burgermeister stood at the front, trying to calm everyone.
"Please! Please! Let's have order here! There is nothing to worry
about. The castle is harmless now. His monster that savaged the
countryside and your families has been gone for many years. You are
panicking over nothing!
"Nothing? Nothing?" an elderly man stood and exclaimed. "I remember
the monster. Today is much worse! We stand to be utterly destroyed!"
The crowd murmured in agreement.
The burgermeister seemed confused. "I don't understand. There's no
more monster. What do think is going on at the castle that has you all
so upset?"
A young woman stood up. "You really don't know? You haven't heard?
They're building a DATA CENTER up there!" The crowd stirred, emotions
almost palpable.
"A data center?" The burgermeister's face showed shock. "A data
center? In our town, at the castle grounds? I hadn't heard, it was all
kept secret from me!"
"Aye," said another man, "a HYPERSCALE data center."
The burgermeister stood mute for long seconds, his face a study in
thought.
Suddenly he spoke with conviction, "I'm with you! Save our community!"
The crowd poured out of the tavern grabbing their pitchforks and
torches as they streamed out the doorway and vanished into the night ...
