Google's "you must be stupid" campaign for their new smart speaker
Google's hilarious "you must be stupid" campaign for their new $100
smart speaker: Yeah, this is pretty hilarious is a sick kind of way. A
little globe speaker much like other little smart speakers, that
Google claims has good fidelity but we know the technical limitations
of small speakers.
$100? Wow. When the Google Home Mini was introduced, it was about $50,
and frequently available for much less. But the really, really "you
must be idiots" part of their campaign for this speaker is how they
promote it's made for their Gemini AI. Gemini promoted throughout.
Wait a second, who cares if it's Gemini or ordinary Google Assistant
(which I'm staying on as long as possible) at the server? It's just a
speaker. If you really want to use Gemini with a smart speaker -- and
again, I don't! -- you can do so with any of the existing Google Home
compatible speakers, all the way back to the original Google Home device
with the spinning lights on top. Nice try Google. But no cigar.
