California Proposition 50
Proposition 50 here in California, the only item on a special election
ballot November 4, has good support and seems likely to pass, but
getting your vote in for it is still essential. It has already faced a
number of lawsuits from the GOP that have been quickly dismissed --
another one today from Trump's former doctor turned Texas politician
trying to stop it in a conservative Texas court with one of Trump's
favorite judges -- even he dismissed it. After the measure likely
passes, it will face more lawsuits of course.
Prop 50 temporarily suspends the nonpartisan districting rules to
fight back against Texas districting changes ordered by Trump. It is
essential.
I'm seeing unusually deceptive mailings against this one. Rather than
outright push for a no vote, they tend to generally more or less
accurately describe what yes or no mean but emphasize the cost of the
special election, and urge you to go to their site for more
information, where you can imagine what you'll find.
The GOP is terrified of 50 -- Make it so! -L
