Talk at Stanford on Google book settlement, this Wed
Note: If this talk is streamed, and if Stanford is following precedent,
it may be streamed only in MS Silverlight. The highly problematic
nature of that approach *has* been discussed with them previously.
If they're now using a less encumbered format, that would be super.
As I've noted in the past, I am disappointed that the existing
settlement was not affirmed by the judge in this case. With the
understanding that the settlement was not perfect, it still seemed to
provide a sensible compromise that would in particular have helped to
deal with the orphan works problem on a timely basis.
