Documents Reveal TSA Research Proposal To Body-Scan Pedestrians, Train Passengers

I continue to be puzzled by descriptions such as this:
"... the company had sold more than 500 of its backscatter x-ray vans
to governments around the world, including some deployed in the U.S.
Those vans are capable of scanning people, the inside of cars and even
the internals of some buildings while rolling down public streets."
If these units can scan inside cars and buildings (whether or not from
inside a van) we must be talking about much higher x-ray power levels
than are associated with the current airport nude body scanners.
Whether or not the government actually plans to deploy (or has already
deployed) such technology strikes me as a significant public health
issue.
But hell, what's a bunch more cancer cases for folks who will likely
never know what caused them in the first place, eh?
