This is tentative at the moment, but I'd like to stimulate some
thought about this in any likely parties....
The odds now appear good that I may have funding for at least one
post-doc position or visiting scientist position later this year. The
position would be for one year, with possible renewal for more. The
position would involve working with the COAST group (faculty and
students) on some predetermined topics related to intrusion and misuse
detection. There would be some freedom to conduct related research of
your own, and it might be possible to be involved in teaching a course
for additional income.
The position would be full-time, and funded as a full 12-month
research scientist position. Some benefits would also be included as
a regular employee of Purdue University.
Applicants should have a PhD prior to starting the position, and a
record of research experience in computer security. Applicants will
be expected to help produce software prototypes and help write papers
and reports on our work. Thus, applicants should show evidence of skills
in programming and in technical writing in English. Non-US citizens
must be able to qualify for the appropriate visas.
This mail is *NOT* a job posting, nor is a committment to make a job
posting. It is a pre-announcement to stimulate some interest. If you
are a grad student who will be finished with your degree by early
fall, or if you are a faculty member seeking a sabbatical, or you are
a scientist with a commercial firm seeking a change of venue for a
while, let me know. Especially contact me if you are considering
other possibilities but you like the sounds of this one!
I'll post a full announcement to this list if/when the position
becomes officially available.
The funding, if it arrives as expected, will not be here until perhaps
August or September. This would make it otherwise difficult to open a
search and get someone here in the usual postdoc/visitor cycle.
That's why I'm posting this now.
Contact me if you need further details (tentative as they may be).
