Minutes from Frame meeting on June 21, 1993

Present: Jeanne Cavanaugh, Christina DeMello, Carla Fermann, Ann LaVin,
Dot Bowe, Naomi Schmidt, Debi Fuchs, Phyllis Galt, Susan Jones

1. The Frame contract has still not been signed, but we are planning to
get the following number of licenses:

450 FrameMaker
50 International FrameMaker (foreign language spell checkers,
      optional foreign language menus)
250 FrameViewer (read-only version for handouts)

Naomi will send mail when the contract has finally been signed.

2. Frame training is set for July 26 and 27 in 1-115. Debi will be
sending out a note asking people to sign up. She will request that
people planning to attend the course become familiar with the
fundamentals by playing around with it for a few hours, so that time
does not need to be spent on the very basic aspects. People attending
the course will be expected to help with FrameMaker support in our
environment.

3. Phyllis passed out copies of a draft outline of a 'Frame on Athena'
document. She took extensive notes on suggested changes and additions.

4. Issues related to writing the documentation in FrameMaker and
viewing it in OLH were discussed. The TPS representative to the summer
Release Team will bring up the question of whether or not it is possible
to incorporate FrameViewer as an OLH viewer in the summer release. If
this turns out to be impossible, a plain text version will be created
for OLH and for those who will access the document over tty. Since
there are only 250 Frameviewer licenses, some investigation needs to be
done as to what kind of demands would be put on the supply, if used for
viewing the Frame document, either within OLH or separately.

5. Next steps - when Phyllis has a draft of the document ready for
review, she will post that information to the Frame mailing list
together with a deadline for receiving comments. We will try to do as
much reviewing as possible on-line, and will reconvene the group if and
when it seems advisable.
