Hi guys,

As I mentioned at senate last night, MIT is considering extending its
leadership and innovation in online education offerings. I've linked below
to a couple of brainstorming documents that the study group has been piecing
together. *Please understand* that these are supposed to represent the
space of possibilities; these are NOT recommendations. Believe me, the
faculty are just as opposed to online degrees as you and I are.

Please discuss these ideas among yourselves on this list and *among your
constituents*; feel free to contact me (hwkns@mit.edu) and/or the entire
student study group (mit-online-students@mit.edu), and feel free to forward
this e-mail to your living group. Most importantly, if you have new ideas,
tell us!

-hwkns

Brainstorming docs:
http://web.mit.edu/hwkns/Public/mitonline/approaches.pdf
http://web.mit.edu/hwkns/Public/mitonline/components.pdf
*WARNING*: The components document says "Do not circulate." I have
interpreted this to mean "Don't be an idiot." If you start a petition,
write a Tech article, or yell at your professor because you're retarded and
didn't read the first paragraph of this e-mail, you will destroy what has
thus far been an excellent incorporation of student input. For something
worth protesting, see http://sayno.mit.edu.

And if you're really interested or looking for something to do, take a look
at this rating chart, fill it in, and send it back:
