Bakerites,

You elected me to represent your best interests, and I have tried to do
exactly that. In my time on HDAG, I have worked actively to argue against
this massive expansion of dining services and the increased financial burden
for students that goes with it. However, HDAG has regularly dismissed my
opinion to the point where I have been unable to contribute to any positive
changes for Baker residents.

At this point, DSL administrators seem more concerned with winning this
battle against the students, than with creating a good dining plan. Recent
discussions have focused on appeasement rather than on solving the
underlying issues, and the committee is willfully ignoring student opinion.
The new option offered today reflects this, and it does nothing to solve the
underlying problems with the plan or address the concerns of freshmen and
future underclassmen. *Since HDAG has overwhelmingly failed to address
student concerns, I am resigning from the group, effective immediately*. For
the time being, Cameron McAlpine, the Baker House Dining Chair, will
continue to serve on the committee.

However, I am not resigning from the issue, only from the committee. In the
coming weeks, I will continue to represent Baker in actively opposing the
dining plan. I will also reach out to you for your support on this issue,
and at that time, I hope you will make the time to voice your opinion. I am
resigning from HDAG because it has failed in its mission of creating a
dining plan that benefits you, but my voice alone is not enough. Please,
leave a comment and sign the petition against this plan at sayno.mit.edu and
make your voice heard.

Thanks,

Andy Wu

President, Baker House
