Hey everyone,
I presented this at the UA Retreat last week, but I think it's probably
ready to go out to ua-senate.
If you would like to write bills that look as nice as the ones from last
year (see http://ua.mit.edu/transparency/legislation/) but don't feel like
setting up and learning LaTeX, you can use this new "legislation generator"
that I wrote:
https://ua.scripts.mit.edu:444/billgen/
Hopefully it's pretty self-explanatory how to use it. After filling out the
relevant fields, you can generate both the LaTeX source code and also the
compiled PDF. If there are any problems with what you entered and it doesn't
compile, you will be presented with the error and given a chance to fix the
input.
One thing I ask is that when sending legislation to this list, you send *both
*the PDF and the LaTeX source code. That makes it a lot easier for folks to
propose amendments and also lets those people who read email through
text-only clients to more easily read the bill.
Please let me know if there are any issues or concerns. This program was
made possible through SIPB's Scripts <http://scripts.mit.edu/> and
MITeX<http://mitex.mit.edu/> projects,
so a lot of thanks goes to them.
Best,
Leonid
