June 2011 32 Hour Basic Mediation Skills Training
This workshop develops mediation skills and teaches a structured conflict r=
esolution process. The workshop includes lecture, exercises and roleplays w=
ith a heavy emphasis on exercises, role plays and structured debriefings. T=
he best way to develop expertise is through practice and reflection.
Most people who take the training find their views on conflict resolution a=
re permanently changed and their interpersonal communication style much imp=
roved. Many find they use their mediating skills almost daily, in the dorm,=
in student groups, in the office, or just interacting with other people in=
everyday life.
At the conclusion of the workshop all participants who have attended a mini=
mum of 30 hours will receive a certificate of completion of the Basic Media=
tion Skills Workshop.
The workshop includes the following topics:
* Conflict
* The Phases and Principles of Facilitative Mediation
* Active Listening and Reframing
* The Mediator's Role and Toolbox
* Negotiation
* Mediator Ethics
* Cross-Cultural Issues in Mediation
