Hey everyone,

Here's a few pieces of legislation I intend on proposing as new business
tomorrow. Sorry for not having these on the original agenda, these are
all things that came up in discussions this weekend.

1. Finboard bylaws amendment
bill: http://mit.edu/remeyer/Public/UA/Senate/42uas12/finboard-bylaws.pdf
bylaws: http://mit.edu/remeyer/Public/UA/Senate/42uas10/bylaws.pdf

reasoning: the version of the bylaws that we approved had only half of
this sentence. The added content is inline with general policy and the
rest of the bylaws. It basically means:
- Senate approves $n for Finboard to allocate
- if Finboard goes through allocations and the total adds up to $1.1n
- then Finboard needs to cut some or all of $.1n
- if it's still over $1n, then Senate needs to approve the new total
amount before approving allocations

2. Finboard funding policies amendment
bill: http://mit.edu/remeyer/Public/UA/Senate/42uas12/finboard-policies.pdf
policies: http://mit.edu/remeyer/Public/UA/Senate/42uas10/policies.pdf

reasoning: adding a guideline on instructors, conductors, choreographers,
and such of $500 per semester with additional qualifying factors. This is
something that Finboard discussed this weekend. It only came up briefly
during CFP, but Finboard believes it would be very useful for at least a
few cases currently and more moving forward.

3. Senate Discretionary for Student Leader Awards
bill: http://mit.edu/remeyer/Public/UA/Senate/42uas12/sla.pdf
more info about SLA: http://studentlife.mit.edu/sao/sla

reasoning: "see whereas clauses", but basically supporting student
activities by supporting Student Leader Awards. The bill is for $1000
from Senate Disc. for 2 $500 awards for undergrad groups. I'm not
particularly attached to the specifics of the wording/content and I'm in
part just passing this along for consideration, so let me (or the whole
list) know if you have suggestions to improve it.

Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, suggestions,
concerns, etc. Or email the whole list with those or any discussion.

-Rachel
