Dear MIT students & student representatives,
At the direction of Dean Chris Colombo, the Division of Student Life has be=
gun a strategic planning process - the first for the Division in several ye=
ars. As an important part of the process, we are scheduling a series of vis=
ioning exercises to solicit your ideas on the trends you think will influen=
ce incoming MIT students in the next 3-5 years. Current students are invite=
d to attend either of these two scheduled sessions:
Thursday, February 17, 7:30-9PM, Grad Student Council, 50-220
Wednesday, February 23, 7:30-9PM, DAPER Conference Room, W35-299
Food and refreshments will be served at both sessions.
Our goal is to gather a group of students with a variety of MIT experiences=
. If you would like to participate, please RSVP to Alicja Estabrooks at est=
abroa@mit.edu<mailto:estabroa@mit.edu>. Please respond promptly, as each se=
ssion will be limited to 30 people. The experience has been that these sess=
ions work best with no more than thirty people. If there is sufficient inte=
rest we will work with the governing councils to schedule additional sessio=
ns.
Participants will be sent a list of key questions in advance and a simple d=
escription of how this exercise works. Please note the focus is to understa=
nd student expectations in the coming 3-5 years, to discover trends of stra=
tegic importance, and to consider how they may influence DSL's operations a=
nd services. We have received positive feedback from other stakeholders and=
partners who have participated in these sessions, and we have learned much=
from each other. I hope you'll be able to share your thoughts with us in t=
he same way.
