Because the Governor of Massachusetts has declared a state of emergency, an=
d because the impending and anticipated impact of the hurricane is unpredic=
table, MIT will be closed on Sunday, August 28th to ensure the safety of s=
taff, students and families.
Therefore, all Orientation activities scheduled for that day have also been=
cancelled.
Students are strongly urged to stay indoors.
I wanted to send a courtesy message out to the student leadership as an upd=
ate. Please pass along this message to any student groups and/or officers t=
hat you think would need to be made aware of this announcement. Additional =
announcements will be sent to all resident students on residence hall activ=
ities and dining facility operations.
It is the strong recommendation that all remain indoors and take =93shelter=
in place=94 on Sunday in particular. Please check the MIT Emergency Infor=
mation website for any updates http://emergency.mit.net/emergency/.
