Hi all,
The recent issues of the faculty newsletter and DUE newsletter have
information that may be of interest to students, so I am passing the
information along. See below.
*Faculty Newsletter*
This issue's faculty newsletter (
http://web.mit.edu/fnl/volume/221/index.html) has a number of articles that
might be of interest to students.
This issue has two articles about S^3 (http://studentlife.mit.edu/dsl/s3).
There have been a number of changes in S^3 in the past few months and the
Institute formed a new committee to discuss the future of these services at
MIT. A detailed chronology of recent events involving S^3 can be found at:
http://web.mit.edu/fnl/volume/221/timeline.html. There is also an article by
Chancellor Clay about the new committee that was established and how the
Institute plans to move forward on this issue. You can find that here:
http://web.mit.edu/fnl/volume/221/clay.html. The UA has a student
representative on the committee (Liz Denys '11, lizdenys@mit.edu). If you'd
like to get involved on this front you can email her directly.
There is also an article about the new CUP Subcommittee to Implement HASS
Distribution Reform (http://web.mit.edu/fnl/volume/221/ravel.html). The UA
has two representatives on this committee: Sukrit Ranjan '10 (sukrit@mit.edu)
and Adam Bockelie '11 (bockelie@mit.edu). Feel free to contact them if you
have input about the committee.
*DUE Newsletter*
The October issue of the DUE newsletter (
http://web.mit.edu/due/administration/Newsletter/DUENewsOct2009.pdf) talks
about the DUE working group ideas, the UROP 40th Anniversary Symposium, the
NEASC Accreditation and more. The working group status might be of
particular interest, as it highlights goals for the working groups and their
categorization for implementation.
I would encourage you to check out both newsletters in their entirety; I've
just highlighted what I think might be of particular interest.
All the best,
-Maggie
