I've updated Matlab on Athena to the new 7.0 release. To run it now:
add matlab
matlab -ver 7.0 & (or simulink -ver 7.0 &)
This release seems a bit rough around the edges and you may run into some
problems, particularly with broken links in the help system and the compiler
(which they only released for Linux in this release). In particular, the
buildmcr utility for creating distribution archives of compiled code is known
to be broken.
Please consider it to be in "testing mode" for a while and subject to
reconfiguration before the Fall Semester- in particular, we're considering
reverting to Matlab's default command-line options, which among other things
would launch the Java Desktop by default.
