I got and installed the new version of xv for decmips, solaris, aix, and NetBSD.
I haven't done the linux one (nobody runs xv out of graphics for linux anyway) yet,
but will when the sipb office re-opens and I'mm there and keesh is free
(or somebody else does it).
Anyway:
New features:
new interface... better designed
Image cut and paste
Minimal editing of picture - (line drawing, smudging, text annotation) -- YAY!!!
more algorithms
new file formats: xpm and 24bit targa r/w,
Amiga ILBM (IFF)
Read xwd
16-bit grayscale pgmraw
Filename completion
Print option (shortcut for save as postscript / pipe to lpr)
Grab command extended - (can grab pulldown menus)
image panning in zoom
support for gzipped files
new versions of libtiff and libjpeg
uses 4*8*4 colormap on 8 bit displays instead of 6*6*6
Possible problems
- now means turn on an option, + means off. It used to toggle.
ghostscript problem may have been fixed, but you should "add gnu"
just in case it still has problems.
To use:
add graphics
