I've installed Mathematica 4.2 on Athena for all platforms. Mathematica is
a multifeatured symbolic algebra system. From my message to users:
Mathematica 4.2 has been installed on Athena for all platforms. You
can run it by typing "add math", followed by:
mathematica -ver 4.2 & (for the GUI interface)
math -ver 4.2 (for the TTY interface)
Starting with this release, we are configuring Mathematica to use a single,
platform-indepent user local configuration directory, located at
~/.Mathematica.4.2 (a symlink ~/.Mathematica -> .Mathematica.4.2 pointing
to this directory will be created when you run version 4.2). We hope this
will simplify things for users running it on multiple platforms.
For new features see Help -> Mathematica Book -> Contents ->
New in Version 4.2, or Help -> Help Browser -> New in Version 4.x ->
Highlights -> Version 4.2.
We expect to make this version the Athena default during IAP 2003.
